Cord Fabric

According to various historians, it originated within Egypt in 200 AD. However, it was first manufactured in 18th Century England. It was the idea of factory workers to apply ridges within the fabric (Cords) to the wool fabric (Duroy), which was derived from fustian fabric. Eventually, corduroy became famous among the working-class people around the globe, specifically in the US and France. During the 20th Century, the Corduroy fabric became a trend in the fashion industry.

Know the story

• Cotton cord fabric has gained recognition as classic, durable and sustainable fabric option. It is more popular as material for wearables. However, it’s durability and versatility is quite suitable for making bags as well.
• It is crafted through a weaving technique that intertwines multiple cords, resulting in a strong and sturdy material. Due to its robust nature, bags made from cord fabric have a prolonged lifespan compared to many other textiles.
• Although cord is also made from synthetic fibers now, but Ecocharme uses cotton cord fabrics only. That makes this biodegradable and eco-friendly too.
• The traditional textured and woven look adds depth and richness to products, providing a sophisticated and elegant appearance, along with the cozy and welcoming feel of the fabric.
